How to Purchase

My instruments are available directly from my workshop or via trusted violin shops and dealers. To see what’s currently available from my workshop, please check this page. Even if you don’t find what you’re looking for, please let me know what you have in your mind so that I’ll be able to let you know as soon as such an instrument becomes available.

It’d be a great pleasure to meet you in person, but I understand it may not be so easy to travel all the way to Japan. If that’s the case, I can send violins and violas by courier company abroad for a trial period of 3 weeks.

Commisioning an Instrument

If you have a specific sound / model in mind, I encourage you to consider commissioning an instrument. A majority of work I do nowadays is to craft an instrument to suite each player’s desire, as you can see from variety of my past work shown in my gallery pages.

01

You will have the opportunity to compare the instrument you currently use with one made by Kimura. I will identify the strengths and areas for improvement of each instrument.

02

Based on the information gathered from the trial, I will consider how to proceed with the production to bring your ideals and ideas to life.

While I have prepared many patterns and models, I may also create a new design just for you, adjusting the design and specifications to meet your individual needs.

03

I will carefully select the best wood for the tone you desire, considering the true quality of sound beyond superficial appearances.

04

Along with the notification of the start of production, I will send you a link where you can track the progress with images and updates.

It’s a time for shaping the ideal sound while engaging in a deep conversation with wood.

It typically requires around 4 months for violins and violas, and 6 months for cellos from the start of production until the instrument is ready for delivery to you. This time frame allows the instrument to settle and stabilise adequately, ensuring it begins its musical journey with you in optimal condition.

05

After applying varnish, stringing the instrument, it is technically complete. However, it’s not considered a finished product yet. Your input is necessary.

Through trials, adjustments will be made to every aspect, starting from the sound post and the bridge, to craft an instrument that is uniquely yours.

06

After delivering the completed instrument, I offer a 3-week trial period. Once you are completely satisfied with the instrument’s quality, we will proceed with the formal handover and payment.

Even after your purchase, I will conduct regular inspections and adjustments. If it is difficult to make a regular trip to my workshop, I can recommend other workshops near you. In any case, I’m here to address any concerns, no matter how minor they may seem.

As a prominent maker of fine instruments in Japan, where a rich tradition of woodworking runs deep, I take pride in presenting you with something truly exceptional: instruments of unparalleled beauty and tone.

Each piece is the result of a harmonious blend of global craftsmanship and artistic vision, promising a musical experience unlike any other.
